Lifesaving 100th Birthday Donation

A Pembrokeshire woman has made a lifesaving donation to a welsh helicopter charity to celebrate her 100th birthday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Gwendoline Hood, Narberth, asked for donations to Wales Air Ambulance in lieu of presents for her milestone birthday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Gwendoline’s friends and family made kind donations, helping her to raise over £100 for the welsh helicopter charity. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tony Key, Wales Air Ambulance Pembrokeshire Community Coordinator, said: “We are very honoured that Gwendoline would think of us on her big day. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“She has been a keen supporter of WAA for many years, and would like to say a huge thank you to her for her amazing support. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Her donation will help us fund our missions all over Wales.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This isn’t the first time the 100-year-old has raised funds for the charity. Gwendoline previously also donated to Wales Air Ambulance on her 90th and 95th birthday. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Gwendoline presented her donation of £184.46 to Tony Key on Friday April 22. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £6 million every to funds its missions across Wales, with each mission costing roughly £1,500. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tony Key said: “We are incredibly touched that on her 100th birthday Gwendoline gave a gift to Wales, by helping us to run our services across the country.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
