MAWWFRS Is Pleased To Announce The Start Of Business Fire Safety Week 2016 5th – 11th September
Over this period, we will be encouraging business to take time to review their safety arrangements for the protection of life and property at their premises.
It is known that many small and medium enterprises do not survive a fire as a consequence of damage, ability to rebuild and lost production or loss of clients to competitors and are unable to begin trading again.
Many of the protective measures that businesses can take to prepare and protect themselves require no or little investment, simple things such as housekeeping, training, reviewing emergency arrangements, checking escape routes and safety equipment can make all the difference in a real event.
David Hancock, Head of Business Fire safety, for the Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service, says
“It’s vital that businesses have robust arrangements in place to protect their premises, staff and visitors and to ensure they have prepared themselves to be able to continue operating after a fire or similar event.
During Business Fire Safety Week we are keen to engage with business owners and provide practical advice that will help with preparations for emergency incidents.
A number of events are planned across our Service area this week:
05/09/2016 – The sprinkler unit will be accessible at Newtown Fire Station, with our target audience those who work in the building trade, and building control officers.
