Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment Campaign
Mid and West and South Wales Fire and Rescue Services are collaborating on a Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment Campaign and both are hoping for a positive response within the registration period. As always, the recruitment process for Wholetime Firefighters is extremely competitive.
During the month of November Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is hosting awareness sessions for groups which are under-represented within our workforce.
If you are female, LGBT or from a black or minority ethnic background and are interested in learning more about a career as a firefighter, we would like to hear from you.
The Awareness Sessions will be held at Haverfordwest, Port Talbot and Carmarthen Fire Stations and provide a taster and insight of the everyday duties of a Firefighter.
To register your interest to attend an Awareness Session, please phone 01267 226839 or email personnel@mawwfire.gov.uk
Those wishing to register for the application process have just three days to do so – online registration opens 09:00 on Monday 5th December and closes at 23:59 on Wednesday 7th December.
Chief Fire Officer Chris Davies from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said,
“The role of a Firefighter is a unique and rewarding one. It is demanding and requires you to show enthusiasm and commitment to serve your community. You will not be alone in achieving this, you will have the full support of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. We will provide you with the training and support that will allow you to work as a member of a team and to the highest standards in protecting our communities. We serve every member of mid and west Wales and we welcome applications from all members of our communities.”
Firefighters are trained to deal with a variety of firefighting and rescue incidents, but they are also equipped to reduce risk through visiting homes, schools and community groups providing safety information.
The Fire and Rescue Services in Wales recognise the value of having a diverse workforce and encourage applications from those individuals who represent the communities of Wales. The recruitment process can be completed through the medium of English or Welsh.
