Tidal Flooding Possible On Parts Of Welsh Coast

Strong winds and high tides could cause localised flooding on the coasts of south and west Wales this weekend. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The areas most affected will be the coastal areas around the river Wye, Monmouth, Gower, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Scott Squires, Duty Tactical Manager from Natural Resources Wales said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The weather this weekend is a cause for concern as high tides, a storm surge, high winds and large waves combine. Winds will exceed 45 mph inland with stronger gusts along the coast. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We expect the biggest effects during the early mornings and late evenings from Friday through to Sunday. People should take care when out and about this weekend, particularly around the coast of South and West Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“There will also be periods of heavy rain that may cause minor flooding on some roads and to a small number of houses. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
