Conwy County Continues To Host World Rally Championship

Conwy County Borough Council has again been confirmed as the official Host County for Dayinsure Wales Rally GB. It is a multiple award-winning partnership that has now been extended for the 2017 WRC event, which will be staged in the legendary forests of north and mid Wales between 26-29 October. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In recent years Colwyn Bay, Conwy and Llandudno have hosted the rally’s official Ceremonial Start and Ceremonial Finish while Conwy County’s famous forests have staged many of the high speed special stages. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Although the competitive route for the 2017 Dayinsure Wales Rally GB will not be announced until May, confirmation of the Council’s on-going involvement ensures that the world championship action will be back in the county in the autumn. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Conwy Council has been a fantastic supporter of the event, and instrumental in bringing the benefits of a world championship event to the region,” said Ben Taylor, Dayinsure Wales Rally GB Managing Director. “As the official ‘Host County’ the county has featured extensively in recent rally routes gaining global TV exposure and bringing significant economic benefit to the region. More than that, though, the amazing backing that Conwy brings from the councillors, the executive and the fantastic events team, makes a vital contribution to the on-going success of the whole rally.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“It has been a pleasure working with Wales Rally GB organisers over the last few years,” reported Councillor Graham Rees, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism, Marketing & Leisure. “Events are very important to us and we’re looking forward to welcoming another major spectacle to the area. Last year’s rally attracted 16,000 people between Llandudno and Colwyn Bay for the opening and closing ceremonies and we simply couldn’t afford to buy the media coverage that comes with it.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Tickets for the 2017 Dayinsure Wales Rally GB will go on sale in the spring, when this year’s competitive route is announced. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
