Fatal Collision On The A5

At 8.40am on Tuesday 17th May fire crews, North Wales Police, Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and two air ambulances were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the A5 in Capel Curig. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tragically, Trystan Rhun Roberts died in the collision. He worked for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service as an apprentice mechanic within the Fleet department in Llandudno Junction. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Simon Smith, Chief Fire Officer, said:”Today our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident, but particularly with the family of the colleague we have lost. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Our service attends road traffic collisions often and they are always difficult for our staff to deal with, but even more so when they involve a close colleague. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Support will be offered to anyone in the Service who requires it following this sad event.”
