Police Appealing For Help In Tracing A Man Who Is Responsible For Starting Three Fires In Rhyl

The first fire was reported at 11.45pm yesterday evening, Tuesday 22nd March, when the door of Lloyds Pharmacy on Wellington Road was set alight.Officers attended and manged to extinguish the flames. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Further reports were then received about two separate bin fires on the same road, which were also extinguished. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Inquiries are ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have information relating to the fires. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Insp Alwyn Williams said: “We are keen to trace a man who was seen in the vicinity of the pharmacy at the time. He is described as being white, in his 30s with dark wavy hair. He may have been wearing a Christmas jumper, with grey/black trousers and dark training shoes.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Kevin Jones, Business Education and Arson Reduction Team Manager at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, added: “Deliberate fires place tremendous pressure on resources, with our crews tied up trying to bring them under control, which in turn delays firefighters from attending life threatening incidents. It could be you or a member of your family that requires our assistance and we may not be able to get to you as quickly or as easily as we would like because we have to deal with a deliberate fire. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Setting fires is a criminal offence and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is actively working alongside North Wales Police to combat deliberate incidents.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
