Beastly Bugs And Super Spiders At Storiel
As part of the Museums at Night festival on Friday, 13 May, Storiel will be opening its doors for a fun filled evening from 6pm to 8.30pm. There will be an opportunity to take part in a range of activities on the theme of ‘Bugs’.
Popular artist Gai Toms will be performing an acoustic set in the Gallery and the audience will get a chance to compose a song with Gai which will be performed at the end of the evening.
Craft sessions will be held in the activities space with an opportunity to make a spider. If spiders are too scary, then making a lavender bag as an insect repellent might be more appealing.
There will be a chance to be a fly on the wall when the Collections Officer will be on-hand to show the Museum’s conservation work and the importance of protecting the artefacts from being damaged by insects. Some exhibits from the Brambell Natural History Museum will also be on show in the activities space.
Artist Nicola Kirby has designed a ceramic fly trap based on the traps used by museums. These traps and mugs can be bought in the shop.
A ‘Bush Tucker Trial’ will be prepared by Seibiant, the café. For the less adventurous – a selection of Seibiant’s delicious cakes will also be on offer.
We strongly suggest that you book a place in advance for these activities at Storiel from 6pm to 8.30pm on 13 May. You can do so by either e-mailing: storiel@gwynedd.gov.uk
or telephoning 01248 353368.
Storiel is open from Tuesday-Saturday (11am-5pm).
