Gwynedd Business Week 2016 – Celebrating The Best In Business

This year’s Gwynedd Business Week has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate local business success and has offered a great opportunity for all kinds of local businesses to come together to network and exchange ideas. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The week was based around a programme of various business support events held across the county in venues including Bangor, Pwllheli, Caernarfon and Porthmadog. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The highlight of the week – now in its 11th year – was the Gwynedd Business Week Gala Dinner held at Bangor University’s Management Centre. The Dinner was a chance for business leaders from all over Gwynedd to meet like-minded people, to share ideas and experiences. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Guest speaker Sean Taylor, Commercial Director of Zip World outlined the company’s main business activities as well as his business proposals for the future. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As part of the evening, Gwynedd Council Leader, Councillor Dyfed Edwards presented an award to Robin Williams of Brighter Foods, Tywyn in recognition of the company’s contribution to the local economy. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economy said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Many congratulations to all the businesses who have been recognised – the Gala Dinner was a real highlight of the Gwynedd Business Week and provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase the rich variety of companies that are succeeding here in the county. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

During the Dinner, Gwynedd Business Network presented an award to John Brinley Jones of PPM Technology based in Caernarfon. Gwyn Jones presented the award on behalf of Gwynedd Business Network and congratulated John on his tremendous success in developing the company which is a leading manufacturer of portable and fixed gas detection instruments. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

In addition, the Gwynedd branch of the Federation of Small Businesses presented Seran Radcliffe, a beauty therapist from Pwllheli, with an award as the Young Entrepreneur that has successfully established a business in the current year and has positively contributed to the county’s economy. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
