Ysgol Nebo Children’s Beach Litter-Pick
Children from Ysgol Gynradd Nebo were fed-up seeing rubbish on their local beach and decided to take matters into their own hands as they recently held a litter-pick on Dinas Dinlle beach.
It was cold and windy when the children and school staff went to collect rubbish in their bright jackets and litter pickers which they borrowed from Gwynedd Council’s Tidy Towns initiative. However, the weather did not hold them back and the children collected three bags full of rubbish during the session.
Ysgol Nebo pupils were very pleased to make a real positive difference to the local environment as they explained:
Gwydion said: “We collected rubbish in order to help the environment.”
Alis added: “There was a lot of plastic which is dangerous to sea wildlife at Dinas Dinlle beach.”
Iago noted: “I am happy that I have helped keep Dinas Dinlle tidy.”
Jonathan Gwyn Neale, Gwynedd Council’s Tidy Towns Officer said: “It lifts the spirits when children decide to improve their local environment. It’s great that the Tidy Towns initiative has enabled groups such as Ysgol Nebo to act on their concerns and make a positive difference.”
