Connahs Quay Incident Ends Peacefully

Shortly before 10am this morning, Tuesday 2nd August, North Wales Police responded to reports that a man had smashed a shop window in High Street, Connahs Quay and that he was in possession of items which could have been used as weapons (not firearms). Local Police Officers quickly attended and contained an area of the High Street with the intention of protecting the public and safely detaining the man. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Specialist officers, which included trained negotiators, attended the scene to assist in resolving the matter. As a result a 60 year old local man was arrested for criminal damage and public order offences, having given himself up peacefully shortly after 11am. He has been taken to a local Police Station for questioning. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Chief Inspector Nick Evans who coordinated the Police response said “This morning’s incident in the High Street Connahs Quay ended peacefully and thankfully no one was injured. I’d like to pass on my thanks to the local community for their patience and understanding during the incident. Police resources were quickly deployed to the scene and our objective of protecting the public, resolving the incident peacefully and returning the area to normality as soon as possible was achieved.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
