Don’t Become A Victim Of Burglary
With the nights drawing in and the clocks having gone back by one hour Anglesey officers are re-launching their Autumn/Winter Anti Burglary Campaign.
Operation Crusader will target burglars and criminals and the Force are re-launching their ‘Easy Street’ preventative interactive tool on the North Wales Police website.
Residents across the island are being reminded to ensure that their property is locked and secured to help deter any opportunist thieves. The Safer Neighborhood Team will also be providing crime prevention and advice to residents across the island via literature and their social media channels. Officers are working closely with Community Safety partners to help vulnerable members of the community to keep their homes secure over the winter months.
Specially-designed leaflets, depicting a footprint, will be delivered to properties which are seen to be insecure.
Detective Constable Eleri Jones from Anglesey CID said: “The concept behind the footprint leaflets is not to alarm but to educate. The leaflets will be left in properties that may be considered by the officers to be exposed to opportunist type offenders, and the leaflets will contain key advice on how to keep their property secure.
“The majority of these crimes are completely avoidable. Residents can play a key role in keeping burglary and other types of crime low, by protecting their homes and valuables and acting on the advice police provide to them.
“We have dedicated resources in place in relation to burglary investigations, with a view to bringing to justice those responsible at the earliest opportunity.
“Although this type of incident is rare in this area, we are asking the community to look out for each other and be crime prevention aware.
“I would ask that if anyone has any information that may assist the police in the pursuit of those involved, to please contact North Wales Police on 101 or via the live web chat.”
Over the campaign period, North Wales Police will be highlighting advice messages via their social media channels using the hashtag #KeepItSafe. Social media users are encouraged to help the campaign by re-tweeting or sharing the information.
Members of the public are also encouraged to visit the interactive ‘Easy Street’ tool on the North Wales Police website which offers valuable information and advice on how to keep properties and valuables secure.
