Engaging Event For The Benefit Of The Young People Of Abergele
Young people stepped out of their comfort zone to make cool music when a beatboxer came to town.
Itaca (Abergele Community Action) last week held an engaging event for the benefit of the young people of Abergele, when they organised a beat boxing workshop delivered by well -known local beatboxer Ed Holden.
The workshop gave the youngsters an opportunity to develop new skills and an awareness of using sampling and looping equipment to make music.
In addition a Street Golf Activity Session was delivered by Chris Gledhill from Conwy Youth Service, providing an alternative activity for those in attendance.
PCSO C3482 Kerri-Lea Adams Lewis said: “The event which was funded by the Arson Reduction Team, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police in conjunction with PACT, was described by those who took part as phenomenal, cool and amazing.”
“It provided an exciting alternative to hanging out on the streets, thus deterring and distracting them from potential anti-social behaviour.”
Ed Holden commented: “I was really shocked with the energy levels from the group, they just kept on going and coming up with new sounds and ideas – they were a really cool crew to work with.”
Linda Tavernor founder of Itaca added: “The evening was great fun and enjoyed by all who attended. We are grateful to North Wales Police for the funding to provide this important event.”
Tomos Jones, Itaca/ACA Project Manager went on: “The event was a lot of fun and it was great to see some new faces on the night. We’ll be doing more so watch this space!”
