Fatal Collision Near Barmouth

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Gwynedd. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The incident happened on the A496 at Caerdion, between Bontddu and Barmouth at around 7.25am today August 20 and involved three vehicles; a silver Citroen, a silver Ford Fiesta and a blue Ford Fiesta. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Unfortunately the male driver of the Citroen was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the blue Fiesta was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with minor injuries. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The next of kin of the deceased and the Coroner have been informed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

North Wales Police Sgt Emlyn Hughes from the Road Policing Unit said; “I am appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call police on 101 reference number U125181. The A496 between Barmouth and Dolgellau is currently closed while officer carryout investigations.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
