In the most recent incident thieves stole two bikes from an insecure porch in Moorfield Road, Hawarden, but fortunately they were later recovered in Lower Aston Hall Lane. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Sgt Sue Richards said; “I would remind residents to take some basic security precautions to protect their property; ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

  • Lock doors and windows
  • Use timer switches to give the appearance that somebody is at home
  • Don’t leave door keys in the lock
  • Keep car keys out of sight and put your car in a garage, if you have one
  • Lock sheds and mark any gardening equipment, tools and bikes
  • Use tamper proof screws on shed door hinges to prevent thieves unscrewing them and removing the door

“Shed alarms, UV pens and other security prevention equipment can be purchased from OWL on 01352 708819 or alerts@owlcymru.org ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“A free bike marking service is available and marked bikes are registered on the national Bike Register. Just contact us for an appointment at easterncommsafety@nthwwales.pnn.police.uk ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“If anybody witnessed the incident in Moorfield Road or has any information, please contact police or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference U172870.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
