New Director Of Finance And Resources Appointed
North Wales Police have appointed a new Director of Finance and Resources.
Tracey Martin took up the post last month, having worked across several sectors, including defence, regulation and health in functional and executive positions.
After gaining a First Class BSc (Hons) in 1997 she continued her career in surveying and mapping where she was instrumental in the transition to digital mapping techniques supporting RAF communications.
Tracey, 44, trained as an accountant, exercising her skills on large-scale acquisition and through life logistics management in senior roles for defence capabilities.
Attaining her first executive director role at Bristol Community Health in 2008 she led the transformation of the organisation into a social enterprise before branching out into a regulatory role at the Gambling Commission as Director of Finance, Risk and Procurement.
She later returned to the NHS where she held commissioning and assurance roles at local and regional levels, involving system management and oversight of multi-billion pound health budgets.
Tracey explained: “Having worked across a number of sectors; Defence, Regulation, and Health I am a huge advocate of public service and the Police felt like a natural move.”
She added: “Researching North Wales Police, I felt an immediate affinity and found that the force’s values are tuned to my own.”
“I’m very excited to be joining North Wales Police and would like to thank colleagues for a very warm welcome. I’ve already managed to spend some time out and about and gleaned there is a huge sense of passion, enthusiasm and pride across the force in providing a service often in very challenging circumstances.”
“As Director of Finance and Resources my brief can be put rather simply – ‘to optimise resources in delivering the Police and Crime Plan.”
Tracey has a broad portfolio across estates, finance, HR, IT and legal which will enable her to offer an integrated and joined up service to front line colleagues, who she sees very much as customers.
“I hope to work collaboratively across the force and with partners in building a shared vision in making a Safer North Wales.”
As well as being a season ticket holder with Manchester United, Tracey with husband Stuart enjoys navigating the canal system, they have a narrowboat moored in Cheshire and can often be seen boating along the Llangollen Canal.
