North Wales Police Supports White Ribbon Day 2016
As North Wales Police is now a White Ribbon campaign accredited organisation officers and staff will be highlighting this year’s initiative by donning white ribbons to show their support.
White Ribbon Day is where men and women across the country will be making a pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence, and will symbolise this pledge by wearing a white ribbon.
Domestic abuse can take many different forms. It can be physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, or financial abuse. It is any kind of violent, abusive or threatening behaviour and it can happen to anyone of any age
It affects not just those who are being directly subjected to abuse, but also those who see and hear it going on.
PC George Howat from the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit said: “North Wales Police are sending out a clear message that there is no excuse for domestic abuse. Do not suffer in silence as there is help out there on White Ribbon Day and every day. Together let’s eliminate domestic abuse.”
“Domestic Abuse has a devastating impact on the victims who suffer its many forms. White Ribbon Day helps to raise awareness of domestic abuse and gives victims confidence to come forward and report it.
“I want victims to realise that North Wales Police attaches importance to this crime and we together with our partners take all steps that we can to protect the victim, children and witnesses from further harm.”
