Re Police Investigation Of Sexual Assault Rhos-On-Sea

This article is old - Published: Monday, Nov 7th, 2016

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Williams said; “I can confirm that we received a report of a sexual assault in the location of the Cayley Promenade, Rhos-on-Sea at around 2.15am to 3.50am on Tuesday 1st November. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The circumstances are currently subject of full investigation by detectives from Colwyn Bay, which includes witnesses’ interviews, forensic enquiries and CCTV examination. The young woman involved is understood to have been assaulted in a dark coloured vehicle on Cayley Promenade at the top of the embankment. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“The vehicle is described as being similar to a black taxi cab or MPV. As to whether the vehicle was a legitimate taxi or not is still very much subject of investigation and currently we cannot draw any firm conclusions in this regard. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We believe the woman got into the vehicle at some point between Glanrafon Avenue, at the Llandudno side of the Little Orme, and Rhos-on-Sea. We are keen to trace any sightings of similar vehicles seen in and between those areas at that time of the morning. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We would remind the public to take the usual precautions when accepting lifts or getting into taxis. People should ensure that they are accompanied by friends, particularly if they have been drinking. They should also satisfy themselves that taxis and private hire vehicles are legitimate and driven by licensed drivers. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We are supporting the family at what is understandably a very difficult and distressing time for them.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
