Second Body Recovered From Sea Identified
Shortly after 2.10pm yesterday, Saturday 13th August 2016, North Wales Police and other emergency services including the Barmouth Inshore Lifeboat recovered the body of a second person from the sea between Sunny Sands and Cae Daniel, near Llanaber in south Gwynedd.
Later the same day the body was identified as 15 year old Waseem Mohamed Muflahi who had been reported missing after swimming in the sea off Barmouth on Sunday 7th August.
Inspector Andy McGregor at North Wales Police said “Yesterday evening Waseem was identified by family members and as with the family of his friend Yahye Omar Mohamed our thoughts are very much with them at this very difficult time. On behalf of the Family Liaison Officers who are supporting both families we ask you can respect their privacy at this time.”
The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner for North West Wales Mr Dewi Pritchard-Jones has been notified.
