Tributes Paid to Blaenau Gwent Staff Member Who Died Suddenly
TRIBUTES were paid by councillors to a Blaenau Gwent staff member who died suddenly during the last month.
A minute’s silence was held at the start of the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council meeting on Tuesday, October 24 in memory of Sally-Ann Evans.
The council’s presiding member Cllr Chris Smith said: “It is with great sadness I have to inform you of the unexpected death of our colleague Sally-Ann Evans who worked as a solicitor for the council.
“Many of you will have known and worked with Sally-Ann who will be greatly missed as a friend and colleague.
“Our deepest sympathy is sent to her family and friends at this most difficult of time.”
As chairwoman of the Planning and Licensing committees Cllr Lisa Winnett had worked closely with Mrs Evans.
Cllr Lisa Winnett: “Sally-Anne’s sudden passing is totally devastating for her husband and young daughter who was the apple of her eyes.
“She was an amazing solicitor and legal support to me and the members of the Licensing and Planning committees.
“Her loss is devastating to the Blaenau Gwent family and all of us who were lucky enough to call her a friend.
Social Services portfolio holder, Cllr Haydn Trollope added that he wanted to pass on condolences from the Social Services department to Mrs Evans’ loved ones.
She had also worked in with Social Services for a time.
A spokesman for Blaenau Gwent said: “The council has paid tribute to Sally-Ann with internal communications messages to all staff and with messages of condolence direct to her family.”
