Wales’ Fire and Rescue Services are working together to recruit wholetime firefighters ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In 2015, the Fire and Rescue Services in Wales received over 5,900 registrations of interest to be part of the Fire and Rescue Service community in the role of Wholetime Firefighter. Within the first five minutes of opening the campaign, the Services received 60 online registrations. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

This year, Mid and West and South Wales Fire and Rescue Services are collaborating on another Wholetime Firefighter Recruitment Campaign and both are hoping for a similar positive response within the registration period. As always, the recruitment process for Wholetime Firefighters is extremely competitive. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Interested individuals have just three days to register for the application process – online registration opens 09:00 on Monday 5th December and closes at 23:59 on Wednesday 7th December. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Huw Jakeway, Chief Fire Officer for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said, “The role of a modern Firefighter is more than just putting out fires, it’s about saving and changing lives in our communities. While it can be demanding, the professionalism and commitment shown by our serving Firefighters is second to none and anyone joining will become part of this dedicated team. We truly believe that through raising awareness, we can reduce risk in our communities and make South Wales a safer place to live. As a Service, we welcome applications from all aspects of the community we service.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Both Services are looking for community focused and dedicated individuals who are committed to making their communities a safer place. To be considered, individuals will need to demonstrate that they share the Services’ core values, as well as being prepared to commit to the level of training and fitness required to meet the challenging demands of the role. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Chief Fire Officer Chris Davies from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service commented, “The role of a Firefighter is a unique and rewarding one. It is demanding and requires you to show enthusiasm and commitment to serve your community. But you will do this all with the full support of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. We will provide you with the training and support that will allow you to work as a member of a team and to the highest standards in protecting our communities. We serve every member of Mid and West Wales and we welcome applications from all members of our communities.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Firefighters are trained to deal with a variety of firefighting and rescue incidents, but they are also equipped to reduce risk through visiting homes, schools and community groups providing safety information. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Fire and Rescue Services in Wales recognise the value of having a diverse workforce and encourage applications from those individuals who represent the communities of Wales. The recruitment process can be completed through the medium of English or Welsh. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
