Two Casualties Extricated From Car After Collision With A Tree

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) is urging people to take extra care whilst driving following a road traffic collision (RTC) in Caerphilly in the early hours of Monday 31st October. Crews from Caerphilly, Whitchurch and Ely Fire and Rescue Stations responded to the emergency call at 00:15. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The RTC, which occurred near the Black Cock Inn in the Thornhill area of Caerphilly involved one vehicle which had left the road and collided with a tree. On arrival, fire crews found two male casualties trapped requiring the roof to be removed using hydraulic cutting equipment. Paramedics on the scene carried out a clinical assessment before transporting them to hospital. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Officer in charge of the incident, Station Manager Dave Ansell said, “We worked safely and effectively to extricate the two casualties from the vehicle, with crews working closely under clinical guidance from paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
