Blaenau Gwent Inspector Issues 48 Hour Dispersal Order This Weekend
Following recent reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the Nantyglo area, there will be a 48 hour Dispersal Order (Under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014) put in place this weekend.
The designated area of the order will include: Queen Street, King Street, Garn Road, Garn Cross, New Road, Chapel Road, Trevor Rowson Park and Banna Park – starting at 5pm on Friday 20th May to 5pm Sunday 22nd May 2016.
Officers will be targeting the streets during the weekend and any sort of anti-social behaviour will result in them being issued with a dispersal order.
The orders provide Police Officers and Community Support Officers with the powers to direct anyone to leave this specified area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour. If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.
Blaenau Gwent Inspector Sarah Greening said: “We’ve seen an increase in criminality linked to anti-social behaviour, offences of criminal damage to property and an increase in members of the public being caused harassment, alarm and distress. Officers will be patrolling the areas regularly to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour. If you do see any suspicious activity, please call us immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
