The Head of Communications and Engagement is a new and exciting role, leading the Corporate Communications Team at Gwent Police. You will develop and deliver a dynamic and creative communications and engagement strategy to meet Force objectives, values and priorities.
You’ll have extensive experience of media handling in a professional organisation and a proven track record of engaging communities, including those that are harder to reach.
In return you’ll be given the space to work across the spectrum of communications, directing everything from staff engagement and awards events, to social media strategy and behavioural change initiatives. You’ll be responsible for getting the best out of the police brand and for helping to develop our digital services, and you’ll get the opportunity to work regionally and nationally.
You will have the opportunity to make this role your own and shape it going forward with a communications team. Some of the duties will include:
• Managing the force response to major incidents, dealing with local, national and international media and partner organisations.
• Responsible for compiling and producing innovative and creative communication strategies.
• Managing and enhancing the reputation and brand of Gwent Police, particularly around highly sensitive issues.
• Developing and maintaining internal communication platforms, ensuring an engaged and informed workforce.
• Future proofing activity of the department against a backdrop of financial challenge.
• Developing, implementing and evaluating cost effective, exciting marketing campaigns, targeting a variety of social and policing issues in line with the force objectives.
• Leading and inspiring a creative team of communications professionals.
• Overseeing the development and maintenance of our internal and external online presence.
• An eye for creativity, whilst maintaining the corporate identity of the force.
