Those Caught Speeding On The SDR, Newport Will Be Prosecuted
Gwent Police are paying particular attention to the SDR after reports of anti-social driving.
In just one hour officers caught 61 motorists going over the speed limit of 50mph, with the fasted recorded as 85mph near the Coldra and RSPCA roundabout.
This was for monitoring purposes only but from now on this is an enforcement site and officers will be taking action against those breaking the speed limit.
This means if you are travelling at 57mph in a 50mph zone you will be prosecuted.
Anti-social driving can range from careless driving to deliberate activity, including: speeding, thoughtless driving, loud stereos, noisy exhausts, handbrake turns, continuous lapping of an area, racing, wheel spinning, drink/drug driving, tailgating, use of a mobile phone whilst driving and driving a vehicle in an unsafe condition.
We will have patrols in place and will take action against anyone behaving in an anti-social manner.
If you want to report anti-social behaviour please call Gwent Police on 101.
