Warning To Caerphilly Residents After Thieves Target The Area

Gwent Police are warning residents to keep a closer eye on their property and report any suspicious activity immediately after a spike in reported incidents throughout the Caerphilly area in the past 7 days. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As the better weather approaches, officers are urging residents not to become complacent by leaving any windows and doors open.The reminder comes after a spate of burglaries in the Caerphilly area this week. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Reported crimes include: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

  • Attempted break in at the Spar, Trecenydd on the 14th of May 2016 where a group of males were seen to pry open the shutter door of the shop but were disturbed by a passer-by and made off from the area.
  • Burglary on Vanfield Close sometime between 13th of May 2016 and the 14th of May 2016 where the offender/offenders force open a metal garage door and stole DVD’s and shoes from within.
  • Burglary on Bedwas Road sometime between the 9th of May 2016 and the 11 of May 2016 where the offender/offenders force entry into a garage by damaging the electronic door and taking power tools from within.
  • Attempted burglary on Ludlow Street sometime between the 8th of May 2016 and the 10th of May 2016 where the offender/offenders have gained entry to a secured garage by forcing the doors open.
  • Burglary Bedwas Road sometime between the 8th of May 2016 and the 9th of May 2016 offender/offenders have forced open metal garage door and have stolen a bike from within.

Officers are currently investigating each reported crime and are asking residents to secure their property. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Extra patrols have now been put in place by uniformed and plain clothed officers. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
