Warning To Residents After Vehicle Thefts In Newport
Officers in Newport are asking residents to be extra vigilant following an increased number of reports of thefts from unattended vehicles this week.
High value cars and work vans seem to be the most commonly targeted.
Yesterday, on the 8th of June 2016 at approximately 5:45am Gwent Police were called to reports of a van being broken into on Chepstow Road, Newport.
The vehicle was damaged as the offender/offenders tried to gain access.
Taken from inside were numerous high value power tools.

On top of this, earlier this morning on the 9th of June 2016 at approximately 5:50am Gwent Police were called to reports of a vehicle being broken into along Chepstow Road, Newport.
A man was witnessed causing significant damage to a window of a vehicle and taking items from inside.
A 40 year old man has been arrested in connection with this offence.
We are urging motorists in the area to ensure that whenever they leave their vehicle unattended it is secure and no items are left on view.
A crime can happen in seconds, please don’t make it easy for thieves by leaving tempting valuables on display.
Officers are carrying out patrols and house to house enquiries in the area affected.
