Keep Nominating For The High 5 Awards

Nominations have started coming in for the High 5 awards for inspirational young people. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There’s been a great response since the launch of the awards last week but organisers are still hoping more people will get on line and nominate a child or young person at www.swansea.gov.uk/High5Awards ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The High 5 awards celebrate their fifth year this year and recognise the achievements of children and young people who’ve reached personal goals, overcome adversity, or made their communities proud. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Leon Britton, Swansea City FC midfielder, is the awards ambassador, said: “I am very pleased nominations have started to come in but there is still time for more inspirational young people to be put forward. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I hope people will go to www.swansea.gov.uk/High5Awards to nominate someone they know. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It’s important to nominate because it lets a child or young person know they are valued, that what they have achieved does count and that they should be proud of who they are and what they have done. Every child nominated gets a certificate.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Anyone can nominate a young person for a High 5 award. There’s no categories so all nominators need to do is explain why their choice of nominee should get a High 5, whatever the reason might be. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The High 5 awards are led by Swansea Council and backed by businesses and organisations from across the city. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

They are open to any child, young person, or group in three age ranges – under 13s, aged 14-19 or 20-25 year olds resident in Swansea, educated or receiving support here. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A winner’s final prize will be uniquely designed around the nomination and everyone nominated will be recognised with a certificate. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
