Event Raises Money For Alzheimer’s Society
Torfaen’s annual women in business event raised more than £1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event was held in the Parkway Hotel in November and raised £1695.22 through ticket sales, a raffle, and a contribution from Santander Bank.
More than 100 businesswomen took part in the event which celebrates the contribution women make to the business community in Gwent.
Cath Thomas, head of economy, enterprise and environment at Torfaen council, said: “Our annual Women in Business event has grown year on year and has become a highlight of the annual business calendar.
“As well as an opportunity for women to network and hear from inspirational speakers, we also like to raise money for good causes, and are delighted to be able to present this money to the Alzheimer’s Society.”
Rhia Stankovic-Jones, community fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “This money is very welcome and will allow us to continue to provide support services for people with dementia in Torfaen, and ultimately to invest in research to one day find a cure.
“We must say a big thank you to Torfaen council and all the business women who attend the event.”
