The Big Pick was organised by the Greenmeadow Community Group and local residents turned out to lend their support and help clean up the area. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Greenmeadow Community Group was formed in January 2016 to address issues of antisocial behaviour and litter, and hold regular meetings to try and engage with residents. They hope to grow the group and hold more Big Pick events in the future. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Chairman of the group, David McCarthy, said: “It was fantastic to see so much support from the residents of Greenmeadow during the Big Pick. You can really see the difference and hopefully the support will continue to grow on future Big Picks. I would also like to thank Torfaen council, Bron Afon and Keep Wales Tidy for their support leading up to and after the Big Pick.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

As part of the council’s commitment to cleaner and greener communities, it is keen to support residents who want to improve the appearance of their local community. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Anyone interested in holding a community litter picking event should contact the council’s streetscene team on 01495 762200. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
