Torfaen’s Adult Learning Services Recognised With National Award
Torfaen council’s Adult Community Learning service (ACL) has had the high quality and standards of its educational courses recognised with a national award.
The ACL offers adult learners a variety of courses, from essential skills for the work place, to leisure and general interest activities.
It was awarded the Silver Centre award by the International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB) at the IAB and IAAP UK and International Business and Skills Awards 2016.
The IAB is one of the most prestigious not-for-profit organisations for professional bookkeepers in the world.
Torfaen ACL offers learners the chance to gain IAB qualifications, opening the door to career opportunities and improving lifelong skills.
It was the only body from Wales to be recognised with an award.
Linda Johns, ACL Centre and Curriculum Manager, attended the ceremony at the House of Commons to receive the award.
She said: “This is wonderful recognition of the quality we achieve in providing courses of this calibre to the people of Torfaen and further afield. We have been recognised as an exemplary training provider for the IAB and this reflects not only on our skilled tutors and dedicated learners but also on all staff in the ACL centres who help to create a conducive learning environment.”
