Design Experts Share Technological Skills
Second-year BA Graphic Communication students were recently visited by staff from award-winning Cardiff-based design studio Orchard.
Orchard, which won Regional Promoter of the Year 2016 at the National Live Music Business Awards, and which has also worked with Elton John, Katherine Jenkins and Kings of Leon, spent the day demonstrating new technologies and communications techniques.
Andrew Minton and his team filled the Cardiff Campus design studios with some of the latest technologies for students to sample, opening up possibilities for future communication ideas and presentations.
Highlights from the visit included drone demonstrations, virtual reality headsets and 360-degree camera technology, which opened the creative minds of the students, with undergraduate Cerys Brown saying: “[the experience] widened my thoughts of possibilities for project outcomes and how technology is a real asset to us as designers and creative thinkers.”
Graphic Communication course leader Ryan Preece added: “Giving students a first-hand opportunity to experience virtual reality, drones and immerging mobile technologies is important and we have Orchard to thank for bring that experience into our design studios.”
