Maths Lecturer Participates In SAS Data Science & Advanced Analytics Forum 2016
Dr Penny Holborn, Mathematics Lecturer from the University of South Wales, was invited to participate in the global SAS Data Science & Advanced Analytics Forum 2016.
The event aimed to bring together experts from academia and industry to learn more about data science and advanced analytics programs, including important discussions on student readiness, crafting academic programs and what employers are really looking for.
The event offered a full agenda with international perspectives and opportunities to exchange views and hear from prominent leaders. Discussions on industry perspectives from several organisations including HSBC on what they want to see from job candidates were made also, with the opportunity to hear insight on current institutional success from programs in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
A series of workshops and panel discussions were also held on student preparation, program content and graduate placements. Dr Holborn represented the University of South Wales on the panel discussion on new and upcoming programs, and discussed the aims and challenges for the University’s new SAS module on the MMath Mathematics programme starting in September 2016.
