PR Expert To Reflect On Military Campaigns At USW Lecture
The former chief of one of the world’s biggest public relations companies will be giving a lecture at the University of South Wales (USW) next week.
Paul Bell, former Bell Pottinger Group deputy chairman, will give a talk entitled ‘Winning Hearts and Minds: Communications and Psychological Warfare’ at USW’s Pontypridd campus on March 2.
During his time with the company, Mr Bell worked on a number of Bell Pottinger’s high-profile international accounts.
A graduate of the University of Cape Town, Mr Bell spent the first part of his career as a journalist, writing and reporting on South Africa’s transition from apartheid. In the mid-1990s, he served as director of communications for the country’s Electoral Commission, helping deliver its first non-racial, democratic general election.
A year later, he led the team which produced Cape Town’s bid for the 2004 Olympics.
Mr Bell also ran the largest communications campaign in the Iraq theatre for the US Army.
The lecture is open to members of the public, as well as school and college groups. It is part of USW’s Global Choices: Talking Points series.
