Queen’s Anniversary Prize Honour For USW Professor

A University of South Wales (USW) academic has been asked to join the panel which judges the highest form of national recognition open to a UK academic or vocational institution ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Professor Jonathan Deacon, who teaches marketing in USW’s Faculty of Business and Society, is to become a member of the Royal Anniversary Trust’s National Readers Panel, which assesses contributions for the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The prizes recognise and celebrate outstanding innovative work within UK higher and further education institutions and its beneficial and practical effect. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The winning entries represent work by individual departments and research groups, major infrastructure and enterprise projects, vocational and technical training programmes and the application of cutting-edge research. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I think in many ways this is a reflection on the innovations we have made here at USW – especially in the way in which we engage with business through enterprise projects and applied research,” said Prof Deacon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
