This article is old - Published: Sunday, Jun 12th, 2016

At a meeting on Tuesday 7 June 2016, Cabinet members accepted a recommendation to pursue an Expression of Interest by a Tregaron group to run Tregaron Leisure Centre. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

This decision will allow the group to develop a robust business case to be submitted to the Council by 31 August 2016. The Council’s Economic Development service will be on hand to assist the group, where feasible, in their efforts. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The recommendations were proposed to Cabinet following a meeting of the Leisure Reconfiguration Board on 5 April, where further information from both groups that had put forward Expressions Of Interest was received. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillor Rhodri Evans, Cabinet Member for Lifestyle Services, said: “As set out in the strategic objectives, Ceredigion County Council is committed to provide services that contribute to healthier lives. To that end, reconfiguring the county’s leisure provision will allow these services to be more fit for purpose and sustainable in catering for the needs of our communities. Though this situation has been induced by inordinate financial pressures that are beyond the Council’s control, it also offers an opportunity for us to think innovatively about how best to provide the leisure services that contribute so greatly to the general wellbeing of the residents of Ceredigion.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Full consideration will be given to the business case upon its receipt by the Council. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

DISCLAIMER: The decision outlined in this press release is subject to the Council’s call in processes. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
