Cat Shot With Air Rifle In Aberbeeg

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a cat was shot by an air rifle. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tabitha, a tortie who is six years-old, was shot by an air rifle in the Pantddu, Christchurch area of Aberbeeg on 22 May between 6.30pm and 10.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

She was rushed to the vets and it was found that a pellet was lodged in her ribs. Luckily the pellet is not causing her any major problems but she is receiving veterinary treatment. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

RSPCA inspector Izzi Hignell said: “Poor Tabitha must have been in so much pain. Sadly it is most likely that she was shot deliberately and she is very lucky that the pellet didn’t cause her more harm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We don’t know who could have done this, so we are appealing for information. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Her owner Christine Bailey said: “She is improving slowly, but she is on painkillers and antibiotics. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I was absolutely shocked when the vet told me she had been shot. She is very luckily to be alive. It is lucky it didn’t hit any of her major organs.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
