Children And Families Can Join In An Event To Mark National Playday At Eirias Park On 3rd August

Playday is a national celebration of children’s right to play, and highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. Events take place all over the UK. The event in Conwy County is organised by CVSC Play Development Team and Conwy County Borough Council and supported by Bay of Colwyn Town Council. It’s free to attend. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This year the activities on offer include den building, junk boat modelling, dressing up, mud kitchen, arts and crafts, tree swings, giant waterslide and more. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Children’s Commissioner for Wales, Sally Holland, will be attending on the day to meet children and families taking part in the event and to promote children’s right to play under the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The event takes place between 12 and 4pm near the boating lake in Eirias Park. There’s no need to book, everyone is encouraged to just come along. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Last year’s event in Eirias Park was attended by around 2,500 people. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Millie Boswell, Principal Play Officer, Conwy County Borough Council, said, “We’re delighted that we can offer this event for National Playday again this year.
