Residents and those who work in the county borough are invited to find out what being a local Councillor really entails at an event at the Council Offices, Bodlondeb, Conwy on 30 January 2017. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Be a Councillor event will begin at 5.30pm with a welcome by the Chief Executive, Mr Iwan Davies, who will provide an insight into how the Council works and how decisions are taken, the breadth of services provided and the challenges currently facing the Council. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

All 59 Conwy County Borough Council seats are up for election on 4 May 2017 so advice and information will be given on the election/nominations process. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The current Chair and Vice-Chair of the Council will also be on hand to talk about the roles of a Councillor and the support available to anyone that’s elected. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Iwan Davies, Chief Executive, said: “Anyone considering standing for election next May will be made very welcome at the event. Being a Councillor can be rewarding and worthwhile but it is often underestimated how much work is involved in the role and what is expected of those elected. We invite prospective candidates to come along to get a better understanding of how the council works and the role of a Councillor.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
