Pro Surfing Event Comes To Conwy County
Pro surfing is coming to Conwy County’s Surf Snowdonia in Dolgarrog when top national surf event, the UK Pro Surf Tour, visits the venue on 24 October. Conwy County Borough Council is sponsoring the day which will be free for spectators to attend.
The Pro Surf tour showcases the best surfing locations, as well as the best surfers, in the UK. The event will feature some of the UK’s top male, female and junior surfers taking part in a knock-out competition – the Surf Snowdonia Pro Surf Challenge.
Councillor Graham Rees, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Marketing and Leisure at Conwy County Borough Council, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming the UK Pro Surf Tour to Conwy County. Events are key to Conwy’s economy as laid out in our Event Strategy 2014-2020. This one day challenge featuring the best surfers from around the UK further strengthens our area’s event offer – keeping North Wales firmly on the map.”
The inclusion of Surf Snowdonia, a world-first inland wave lagoon, on the UK Pro Surf schedule is a major development for the tour.
Andy Ainscough, managing director at Surf Snowdonia, said: “Being asked to feature on the UK Pro Surf Tour is a fantastic privilege and a great milestone for the sport. The Surf Snowdonia Pro Surf Challenge competition day will be an enormously exciting opportunity for our crowd to witness some of the best surfing and surfers this country has to offer.”
There will be indoor and outdoor seated and standing viewing areas, free parking, and refreshments available.
