Last Phase Of Flood Alleviation Scheme Set To Begin

Work is set to begin on the last phase of the flood protection scheme at Rhyl Golf Club. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The work will involve the construction of a new storm water ‘outfall’ which will discharge flood water from the holding lagoon at the Golf Club and channel any flood water out to sea during low tide under controlled conditions. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The main reason for this work is to protect 130 properties in Garford Road that were affected by the storms in 2013. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Contractors will be starting on site today (Monday, 9 January). As a result of the work, the Garford Road car park and a section of the promenade (between Splash Point and the Robin Hood/ Lyons Holiday Camp connecting path) will be closed from Monday, January 16th for approximately two months. Pedestrians will be diverted along a section of the Coast Road. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

KM Construction North Wales Ltd will be carrying out the work on behalf of Denbighshire County Council. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
