Waterfront Regeneration Gathers Pace

The ambitious regeneration of Rhyl’s waterfront is gathering pace, with a series of exciting redevelopment projects underway. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Planning permission has already been granted for developments around the Theatre, including external refurbishment of the Theatre, a hotel – Travelodge, family pub/restaurant – Marstons, a third commercial unit, refurbishment of the Sky Tower and for works to the Children’s Village car park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Internal refurbishment works are already underway at the Pavilion Theatre. The front of house areas are being refreshed during the annual close down between the end of the panto season and mid February. This will be followed with the full refurbishment of the bar areas, with the introduction of a new restaurant. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Scaffolding will be put in place later this month for the external refurbishment works. This will see a new façade on the side of the building that used to join up to the Sun Centre, repainting and recladding of the main Theatre building and a new entrance foyer created. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Work is due to start tomorrow (Wednesday) on the creation of a new car park on the eastern side of the Pavilion. Alternative car parking will be available at the East Parade car park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Work will start this month on the refurbishment of the Sky Tower into a decorative light beacon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Members of Denbighshire County Council will also meet next week (Tuesday, January 31) to discuss ambitious proposals for a new waterpark and leisure attraction. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Leader of Denbighshire, Councillor Hugh Evans OBE, who is also Cabinet Lead Member for the Economy, said: “These are really exciting times for Rhyl, with our vision for regenerating the waterfront area progressing at a pace and people will be seeing real signs of developments going on around the Theatre and the promenade area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
