Warning Regarding The Use Of Commercial Fireworks
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are issuing a warning regarding the dangers of commercial fireworks after a woman was injured in Flintshire last night (Saturday, October 29th).
At approximately 21:45 hrs the Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in the Garden City area whereby a woman had been injured after setting off a firework.
The woman was treated for burn injuries and another person was also slightly injured following the incident.
Stuart Millington, Senior Fire Safety Manager for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Commercial fireworks are designed to be used by trained, professional operators. In this particular case the instructions were not followed and as a result two people were treated for their injuries.
“We urge everybody to follow the Firework Safety Code. Every year, countless people are badly injured and burnt in the run up to the bonfire season when lighting bonfires and setting off fireworks. Organised community events in North Wales definitely provide the best value for money for entertainment and also ensure that families no longer need to risk the dangers of back garden bonfire and fireworks parties.”
