Y Bala Learning Campus
Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet has supported a recommendation to consult with school governors of Y Berwyn catchment area on the option to abandon the existing proposal to establish a 3-19 Learning Campus, Voluntary Controlled (VC, Church in Wales) in Bala.
Councillor Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Education said:
“Our aim as a Council is to ensure education provision of the highest quality for the children and young people of Y Berwyn catchment area. Capital funding worth more than £10 million is in place to realise this vision and the construction work is progressing well.
“Unfortunately, following a long period of working in partnership with the Church in Wales, the latest developments have caused great concern amongst governors and members of the local community and poses a significant risk to the success of the school.
“As a result, the Cabinet has decided to support the recommendation to hold a formal consultation with governors on the option to abandon the existing proposal. Following this, a further report will be submitted to the Council’s Cabinet recommending the best way forward.”
