Roads Policing-Related Arrests Over The Weekend
A motorcyclist was caught riding at 110mph on the A55 during the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday, May 15th).
The motorcyclist was caught by an officer from the Roads Policing Unit who was on duty in the Bodelwyddan area.
The rider was also found to be riding without a valid licence and his motorcycle was seized.
He has since been issued with Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) and will be dealt with at a later date.
Police also carried out drink and drug drive arrests over the weekend.
A 26-year-old woman remains in police custody after failing the roadside breath test. Shortly before 11pm last night (Sunday, 15th May) police were called to a report of a damage-only collision in Malltraeth, Anglesey. Officers attended and the woman was arrested for drink driving.
A 36-year-old man was arrested in Talybont, Conwy shortly after 5pm yesterday evening (Sunday, May 15th) after being caught driving whilst disqualified, driving with no insurance, failing the roadside drugs swipe test and possession of a controlled drug. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
And a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving in the Llanfairfechan area on Saturday afternoon (May 14th). He has since been charged and bailed to appear before Llandudno Magistrates on Tuesday, 31st May.
Next month officers across Wales will take part in the National Summer Anti Drink and Drug Drive campaign. The campaign will see police increase the pressure and focus on those drivers who drink and drive or drive under the influence of drugs.
During the summer campaign last June North Wales Police administered 5,235 breath tests with 85 being positive which equates to 1.62%. They also carried out 20 drug swipe tests, using the new kit, where half failed.
