A Conversation With Photographer Colin Thomas

Photographer Colin Thomas will be in Oriel Wrecsam on 5 May for an event which will discuss his style of photography with Thomas Dukes curator at the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Colin is currently displaying photographs as part of the final Harness your Hiraeth exhibition on display until 18 June at Periclo, part of Oriel Wrecsam’s current exhibition space close to the People’s Market in Wrexham town centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Harness your Hiraeth is all about nostalgia, or a longing for a home to which you cannot return. Colin’s photographs at the exhibition date back to the 1980s and show local scenes of carnivals and parades that are no longer a familiar sight in Wrexham’s communities. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The photographs were originally exhibited in 1984 at the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The “Colin Thomas in Conversation” takes place at Oriel Wrecsam, 11 – 12 Chester Street, Wrexham at 6.00 pm and it is free to attend but prior booking is essential. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
