Number 6 Bus Service Reinstated For Villagers

A bus service will return to use for villagers in the South of Wrexham as a new operator takes on the former route. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The No6 service, which serves Ruabon, via Bersham to Wrexham became vacant in the winter – but will now be operated by D Jones and Son. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr David A. Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “We recently retendered this service, and I know residents will be pleased that it has been reinstated and I thank them for their patience. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We are looking to have the service running from February 6. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“We are working with the new operator on finalising the timetable which will be a two-hourly service, six days a week – but this will first need to be registered with the Traffic Commissioner. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Bithell added, “We are very pleased to see that our tendering exercise for the No 6 was successful, and I would like to thank officers for their work throughout. The council continues to work to replace services lost and we are doing all that we can. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Nobody likes to be left without transport services, but the service will resume soon.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
