Please Dispose Of Batteries Safely

Residents in Wrexham are being asked to dispose of any unwanted batteries safely. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

All batteries are classified as hazardous waste and they should always be recycled and not put into the household waste collections. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Batteries can also go on fire which leads to safety issues for our crews and staff at the FCC recycling facility on Wrexham Industrial Estate. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“All our household recycling centres have facilities for batteries which is far safer than putting them into your household waste. If possible rechargeable batteries should be used as they are the most environmentally friendly and can be re-charged many hundreds of times.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
