Residents Across Wales Are Urged To Get The Best Of Out Of Local Services By Taking Advantage Of New Online Resource.

Dewis Cymru (www.dewis.wales) officially launched at the National Social Services Conference at Venue Cymru, Llandudno on June 30. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The site will provide people across the area advice and information on upcoming events associated with wellbeing based on their post-code location and needs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Information on everything from leisure centre classes to mental health support groups and others will be provided. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Wrexham Council has taken the lead for Dewis Cymru in North Wales, and will continuously liaise with partner agencies to ensure all information provided on the site remains up-to-date. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Joan Lowe, Lead Member for Adult Social Care at Wrexham Council, said: “As we move on and as the face of public services and social care shifts across Wales, we want to do everything we can to ensure people stay aware of all of the services and support open to them. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Even something as close to home and local as a luncheon club or coffee morning can be of immeasurable help to people who might otherwise be lonely – ensuring people are directed to such services is hugely important. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“And at the other end of the scale, we also want to work with larger partner agencies in health, the third sector and other local authorities to make sure we are doing all we can across North Wales.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
