A colourful Dahl-themed fancy dress parade will start from the car park next to Pontycymer nursery at 12pm, and families are invited to join in the fun as the parade makes its way to Parc Calon Lan in Blaengarw. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Some of the much-loved author’s most famous creations will be on show in the ‘Breathing Spaces’ community play and games area, including re-makes of the caravan from Danny the Champion of the World, Grandpa’s bed from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a Great Glass Elevator, while there will also be live entertainment, stalls and refreshments. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Blaengarw Primary School Head Teacher Terry Emanuel said: “Our pupils absolutely love Roald Dahl’s books, so we thought this would be a wonderful way to mark the centenary of his birth.“ ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Children and parents have been working extremely hard to put this event together and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
